Day 2 of Mozart Evenings: A Spectacular Celebration of Musical Brilliance in Chieti
Mozart Evenings, a five-night musical extravaganza paying homage to the enduring legacy of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, brings together globally renowned ensembles and artists to the picturesque city of Chieti to showcase the maestro's most iconic compositions. An unmissable event for music lovers, the festival, taking place from 25 May - 4 June 2025, is a dazzling celebration of collaboration, artistry, and the timeless power of creativity, helmed by President Konstantin Ishkhanov and Artistic Director Giuliano Mazzoccante.
On 1 June, the second day of Mozart Evenings, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement, as maestros from all over the world gathered in the spacious atrium of the Marrucino Theatre, a beautifully ornate venue boasting breathtaking interiors, an ambient atmosphere and impressive acoustics.
The highly anticipated musical event showcased the talents of the Apulian Youth Symphony Orchestra (AYSO), who performed under the baton of their Principal Director Teresa Satalino (Italy), to mention a few. The ensemble was also joined by soloist Davide Alogna (Italy), a celebrated violinist known for his diverse and international musical background who regularly performs as a soloist in prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Berliner Philharmonie, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Smetana Hall in Prague, among many others.
“It's really a big honor for us to have artists of this calibre in Chieti”, Mazzoccante said. “Just having one would be great, but to have them all together is like a dream come true! For me, as Artistic Director, it’s something that I couldn’t believe would come true at the beginning, but now I can finally say that it’s something amazing, and something that will be part of the history of this city and this theatre forever!”
The concert took place in the evening at 6 pm and featured numerous works, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, which is the most famous of his five violin concertos and arguably considered the most rhythmically exciting, as well as the Symphony No. 29, a piece filled with vibrance, charisma, and emotional depth that echoed throughout the grand halls of the Teatro Marrucino.
“The reason why I decided to be a musician is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!”, Alogna declared. “I find his music, his operas, all the things that he wrote are full of character. This night, I performed the 5th concerto, which I think is amongst the biggest and most impressive, and to do it here, in the Teatro Maruccino is so beautiful. It’s a really special place, and you can breathe the smell of history that is present here!”
Proving to be a truly unforgettable experience for the audience in attendance, the festival saw music lovers immersing themselves in the dynamic world of the prolific composer, with many already expressing excitement for the upcoming concerts and the event’s future iterations.
“I think that Konstantin Ishkhanov and Giuliano Mazzoccante are like volcanoes!”, Alogna said. They create a lot of projects and many occasions, not just for big musicians, but also for young musicians, and for the future of classical music. I think this is a very crucial role in the international music scene, because there are not too many people like them in the world, so I’m really happy to be part of it and eager about what is yet to come!”
